Temptations Lead Singer Dennis Edwards Dead at 74

Temptations lead singer Dennis Edwards has passed away in Chicago, just one day before his 75th birthday.

Known for the legendary hits like “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone” and “I Can’t Get Next To You,” the Detroit-native landed the lead role for the legendary group in 1968, taking over for the Motown group’s lead, David Ruffin. ⠀

Despite, the singer’s back and forth with the group in the 80s and 90s, Edwards was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the legendary group in 1989. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

However, after complications of meningitis, the singer passed away in a hospital on Friday, reports state. ⠀⠀
