According to a presidency statement, Pres. Muhammadu Buhari has named APC national leader, Bola Tinubu to lead consultations and reconciliation efforts within the party.

“As part of on-going efforts to improve cohesion within the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari has designated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead the consultation, reconciliation and confidence building efforts,” the statement signed by Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity said.

“The assignment will involve resolving disagreements among party members, party leadership and political office holders in some states of the Federation.”

The APC is currently undergoing serious upheavals in different states of the federation – from Kano (where Gov. Ganduje and his predecessor, Sen. Kwankwaso are in a fight), to Zamfara (where Gov. Yari and Sen. Misau are at loggerheads), to Kogi (where Gov. Bello and top APC politicians in the state are at loggerheads), to Oyo (where the minister of communication is battling with the governor), to Cross River (where the Niger Delta minister is at war with the state leadership of the party), and in several other states.

Although Tinubu definitely has the stature for such an undertaking, it remains to be seen how effective his efforts will be considering that Tinubu is viewed in some circles as part of the problem in the ruling party
