Dino Melaye allegedly connived with Senate Press Corps to shut out online media from press briefing

Dino Melaye

Controversial Senator, Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial district has specifically ordered that online platforms covering Senate plenary would no longer participate in his press briefings.

This was manifested on Friday, when he held a press briefing at his residence located at Mississippi, Maitama district in Abuja, but strictly inviting only the print and electronic media.

The press briefing, however, was over Kogi governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s involvement in double registration of permanent voter’s card.

There are over 10 online platforms and several newspapers as well as TV stations accredited to cover National Assembly proceedings.

Unfortunately, for online platforms on Friday, Mr. Melaye had previously arranged through the Senate Press Corps leadership that ‘Online platforms’ be left out of his events.

His disposition to online platforms was further shown on Tuesday, when he suggested that Nigeria Space and Research Development Agency (NARSDA), an agency of government shut down terrestrial space for Sahara reporters which he accused of unethical practices.

Meanwhile, several calls put across to Senator Dino Melaye to confirm the development went unanswered.
