38 Days Of Osinbajo’s Acting Presidency- Daily Trust

This is the third time Osinbajo is acting as president. The first was in February 2016 when the president embarked on a five-day vacation, and the second time was in June 2016 when President Muhammadu Buhari went on a trip to the United Kingdom to treat an ear infection.

Unlike the era of the late President Umaru Yar’adua’s health crisis, Buhari had transmitted a letter to the National Assembly, informing them of his vacation and surrendering power to Osinbajo. President Buhari began a two-week vacation in London but later extended it indefinitely to address yet-to-be-disclosed medical concerns. Since then, the acting president has been riding out the storm.

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday struck out the names of four accused charged with N3.4 billion fraud alongside a former Director-General (D-G) of NIMASA, Patrick Akpobolokemi.

Akpobolokemi, a former D-G Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), was charged with nine others on a 40-count charge bordering on fraud. Other accused charged with him are: Capt. Ezekiel Agaba; Ekene Nwakuche; Felix Bob-Nabena; Capt. Warredi Enisouh; Governor Juan; Ugo Frederick and Timi Alari.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose has reacted to Ali Modu Sheriff's threat to kick him out of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Fayose made the claim while speaking a live programme tagged, ‘Meet Your Governor’ aired on the state-owned Ekiti Television and Radio Stations. “On Thursday, a letter was sent to the Central Bank of Nigeria that the money be released and it has not been released because the CBN Governor was not in town,'' Fayose said.

APC candidate wins Plateau by-election


The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday declared Mr. Jackson Nimmwang, APC candidate, the winner of Saturday’s Langtang South State Constituency by-election in Plateau.

The INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Tor Iorapuu, declared in Mabodi, that Nimmwang polled 3,688 votes to beat his counterpart form Mega Progressives Peoples Party, Mr. Rinsmicit Emmanuel, who scored only 83 votes.

A robber in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, who snatched the mobile phone of a student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe university, took the daring step of uploading his own pictures on his victim’s Facebook account (Gabrilla Uchechi Eberechukwu) on Thursday.
