In the leaked telephone conversation, the two governors can be heard having an excited conversation about how Mr. Wike stormed a collation center during the election. The tone of the exchanges makes it clear that Mr. Wike’s aim was to manipulate the results of the elections in favor of his candidates. In a tone that shows how he outmanouvred the Nigerian Army, Wike declares in the conversation that, "Nigeria Army does not exist again."

A former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Dan Etete, and 12 others are faced with jail terms in Italy over their alleged involvement in the $1.1 billion Malabu oil scam in Nigeria.

The prosecutors filed the notice in a Milan court last week, one week after Etete was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja for his role in the Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 245.

Dutch investigators have also begun the probe of Shell’s alleged involve ment in the scam. Shell and Eni have invested at least $1.8 billion in purchasing and developing the oil bloc, which they own 50 per cent apiece.

Wike’s 21 Police Escorts Arrested And Whisked To Abuja


All the 21 policemen in the escort unit of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State have been arrested and whisked away to the force headquarters, Abuja, allegedly on the orders of Abubakar Idris, Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The affected officers were alleged to have shot sporadically into the air on December 11 at a collation centre for the Rivers East Senatorial District during the re-run legislative election.

But a dependable police source revealed that the underlining reason behind the arrest was their refusal to immediately proceed on transfer shortly before the last re-run election in which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won two out of the three senatorial districts.

Wolfsburg have confirmed the departure of Julian Draxler to Paris Saint-Germain, with the Germany international signing a four-and-a-half year deal at Parc des Princes.

The Ligue 1 champions will pay €35 million up front for the former Schalke man with the possibility of an extra €10m to be paid in bonuses.

Three women, including a member of the National Youth Service Corps, have been kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

They were said to be travelling on God is Good Motors on Wednesday when they were robbed at gun point and thereafter marched into the bush.
When contacted, the Head of Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FCT Police Command), Yemi Ola, confirmed the kidnap, saying his office has received a report of the case.

The girls were brought to Yola International Airport in Yola, Adamawa State capital around 3pm on Thursday.

The estimate has a recurrent expenditure of N75,823,942,160 and capital expenditure of N62,409,004,510.

“Budget of Recovery”on behalf of the governor, Permanent Secretary, Budget and Economic Planning, Segun Olorunsogo said the economic sector of the budget, including agriculture, rural development, rural and urban electrification, commerce, industry, finance and transportation will gulp N24,911,168,470.

Policeman jailed for murder at checkpoint


An Osogbo Magistrate’s Court in Osun on Thursday remanded a 48-year-old police officer, Pius Felix, in prison for alleged murder.

Mr. Felix, who is attached to Awo Police Station, Ede, is facing a count of murder.

Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves rise to $25.2bn

The nation’s foreign exchange reserves have risen to over three-month high of $25bn, according to data on the website of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN.

Specifically, the statistics showed that the external reserves rose to $25.2bn on December 19. The last time the reserves recorded this figure was on September 8 when it had the balance of $25.16bn.
The country’s fast-depleting reserves had recorded $23.89bn low on October 19. The reserves have dropped by 15.9 per cent from last year when they closed at $29.7bn.
The CBN data showed that the foreign exchange reserves declined to $24.92bn on September 14 from $25.11bn on September 9.

A Chieftain and Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dakuku Peterside has dismissed as laughable the Judicial Commission of Inquiry of the State Government on the Rivers state rerun elections.
