Governor Wike Sacks His Senior Special Assistant on Protocol

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, on Friday relieved his Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Sir Joe Akpa, of his appointment.

A statement by Mr Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the governor on Electronic Media, in Port Harcourt said that the governor wished Akpa well in his future endeavours. The statement did not give any reason for the action.

Akpa was appointed Senior Special Assistant by Governor Wike in 2015. Before his appointment, he was the Director and Head of Secretariat of the defunct 40-member Rivers State Economic Advisor Council headed by Emeritus Prof. Nimi Dimkpa Briggs, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt.
Akpa who hails from Andoni Local Government Area of the state had served three former military administrators of Rivers as Director of Protocol.
